Discussions are currently underway to potentially pair Serena Williams and Carlos Alcaraz for a mixed doubles exhibition at the US Open.
This ambitious pairing, along with a rumoured Venus Williams and Jannik Sinner team, is being negotiated for the reorganised mixed doubles event that takes place the week before the Grand Slam.

The US Open’s mixed doubles event is slated to feature a 16-team, high-profile exhibition format. The early rounds feature a shorter format (best-of-three, playing to four games), transitioning to a standard six-game set for the finals.
While fans are highly anticipating the star-studded combinations, some established doubles players have criticised the event, arguing that it heavily favours singles players and marginalises dedicated doubles professionals.

“Negotiations are underway to field, in New York, Venus paired with #Sinner and Serena paired with Carlos Alcaraz. The US Open will be Venus’s final appearance in New York before her official retirement,” Sky Sports’ Mangiante wrote via his X handle.
This would most certainly be a hugely tantalising prospect for many tennis fans around the world if it were brought to reality. The US Open will commence from 31 August to 13 September, with the mixed doubles a week before, from Tuesday 19 to 20.
