Emma Raducanu is downed in straight sets in Queen's final against Donna Vekic as British No 1's quest for a second title five years after her US Open win rolls on

Emma Raducanu’s preparations for Wimbledon have suffered a blow after she was beaten in straight sets by Donna Vekic in the Queen’s final.

After a barnstorming performance in her two matches on an action-packed Saturday in west London, the British No 1 was unable to add a third victory in 24 hours to her haul and win her first title since the 2021 US Open.

Vekic, a former Wimbledon semi-finalist, tore through an explosive first set which the Croatian won 6-0, but although Raducanu battled back in the second and even served for it at 5-2, she was unable to get the ensuing tiebreak over the line.
