Barcola on the market

Bradley Barcola will be allowed to leave PSG if a suitable offer arrives this summer, L’Equipe understands.

Contract discussions with the winger have been stalling for months, with Barcola having grown frustrated over his reduced role in the team following Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s arrival in January 2025.

PSG understand his frustration and will not force him to stay even though they would prefer to keep him. Arsenal and Liverpool have been strongly linked with the France international in recent weeks.

Man Utd to beat Arsenal in Fernandes race

Man Utd are poised to win the race for West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes, according to The Times.

Arsenal were also showing a strong interest in the Portugal international, but it has now been confirmed that Fernandes is prioritising a move to Old Trafford, forcing the Gunners to identify different targets. The Red Devils are confident that they will be able to sign him this summer.

West Ham are remaining firm on their asking price of around €92 million, which Man Utd are reluctant to pay. Nevertheless, there is a growing expectation that Fernandes will end up moving to the red half of Manchester.

Cucurella talks to start

Atletico Madrid are set to open talks with Chelsea over left-back Marc Cucurella, Ben Jacobs writes.

The Spain international is described as a “leading left-back target” for the Rojiblancos, who have been linked with him for several weeks. Atleti are now ready to act on their long-standing interest, with director Mateu Alemany known to be a huge admirer.

Cucurella is believed to be keen to leave Chelsea after they failed to qualify for European competition, but he insists that he is currently fully focused on the World Cup and “very happy” at Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle back in for Trafford

Newcastle have reignited their interest in Man City goalkeeper James Trafford, The Athletic reports.

The Magpies attempted to sign him from Burnley last summer, but they were ultimately beaten to his signature by his former club Man City. However, Trafford quickly came to regret his decision to return to the Etihad when City also signed Gianluigi Donnarumma.

He is now ready to leave the club again, with Newcastle making him their primary target despite recently announcing the signing of Ewen Jaouen from Stade Reims for €28.5m. With Nick Pope potentially on the way out, Newcastle could bring in another goalkeeper.

Spurs to bid for Gakpo

Tottenham are preparing a “big” bid for Liverpool winger Cody Gakpo, CaughtOffside claims.

The Netherlands international is believed to be facing an uncertain future at Anfield after a disappointing season and the departure of Arne Slot. Despite his dip in form, he still has high-profile admirers around England and Europe.

Spurs are said to be very keen on pouncing on his potential availability and are readying a sizeable financial package worth around €70m for the versatile attacker. Gakpo has yet to make a decision on his future.
