Starmer tells Trump Iran deal must secure lasting peace

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has told US President Donald Trump that any agreement to end the Iran conflict must secure a durable peace, Downing Street says.

In a call with Trump, Starmer stressed “the importance of ensuring any deal delivers a durable and lasting peace”.

His office said he also told the US president that the UK stood “ready to support the implementation of any peace agreement and to work with international partners to ensure its success”.

Downing Street said both leaders agreed that freedom of navigation must be restored to “ease the economic impacts felt globally”.
