Besiktas of Turkey midfielder, Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi has described Wednesday’s international friendly between Nigeria and Portugal as ‘a very massive test’ for the Super Eagles, which he is set to captain during the away encounter.

Sports247 reports that Ndidi and his colleagues will line out from 8:45pm inside Estádio Dr Magalhães Pessoa in Leiria for the second ever friendly between both countries, and the former Leicester City of England star is beaming with confidence.
Ndidi, who earlier played for Nath Boys FC of Lagos and RKC Genk of Belgium, added that everyone in the Nigerian squad is inspired to seek a good result against their hosts with fresh memories of last week’s 2-2 draw away to Poland.
He added that the huge technical depth of Eagles’ coach, Eric Sekou Chelle will once again come to bear on the squad, as they will follow the Franco-Malian tactician’s instructions fully in order to get a memorable result against the Portuguese.
In their only previous clash, Portugal defeated Nigeria 4-0, even without Cristiano Ronaldo in their squad, but the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is expected to feature this time out, which Ndidi admitted would make the game more exciting to watch and more challenging.
“It will be a very good test for us. We meet after the first test against Poland. Portugal is a great team, a massive team with big players as well. So, it will also be a very massive test for us as a group … for our vision and for our aim as a team.
“For our growth, it will be a very good test for us. We believe in ourselves. We don’t care who we’re playing; even if we’re playing the biggest countries in the world. We look forward to taking our philosophy into the game,” Ndidi expatiated.
