Ex-tennis WAG Morgan Riddle reveals why she will 'never date an athlete again' after break-up with Taylor Fritz

Ex-tennis WAG Morgan Riddle has unveiled her 33-point non-negotiable list for her next relationship, which crucially features, never dating an athlete again.

Riddle started dating American tennis star Taylor Fritz in 2020 and quickly shot to fame.

By 2023 she was dubbed the most ‘famous woman in men’s tennis’ by the New York Times.

But around two months ago, after six years together, the couple split, and Riddle has spent the intervening time, ‘making breakups fun again.’

That was in fact the caption on an Instagram post that saw her buy a sequin Fendi Baguette instead of a couch for her new apartment.

It seems that the impulsive purchase was a response to no longer having to bow to the tennis culture in which she found herself while dating Fritz.

‘Because people would get offended by everything in the tennis world, and it didn’t only reflect on me, I had to reel myself in a lot. Now I don’t have to do that anymore!’ She told Elle.

And despite a career in sports marketing with her co-founded club 400, Riddle has sworn off dating another sports star.

‘I made, like, a 33-point non-negotiables list for [my next relationship]. It has basic things like political alignment, shared life goals, intellectual intimacy, no sports betting or gambling, only makes my life happier,’ and crucially ‘I’ll never date an athlete again,’ she said.

‘When I look toward my next relationship, I will prioritise being loved in the way that [Colton Arman] loves me.

‘I think that’s the most important lesson out of all of this. I would not have been able to make the decision I made or do what I’ve done the last two months without him.’

Even before dating Fritz, Riddle had built an incredibly successful life working in social media for a beanie brand that benefitted paediatric cancer research.

It was that job that saw her relocate to Los Angeles in 2021 where she actually met Fritz and moved in with him in just a few weeks.

For the first year of their relationship she maintained her nine-to-five job as she travelled the globe with Fritz on the tennis tour.

It was at that point she realised that it would be unsustainable due to the constant travelling and different timezones and instead focused her energy on her own social media brand.

And that sort of financial independence was crucial to Riddle, ‘Say, hypothetically, I fully supported him and his career and didn’t make my own money and didn’t develop my own brand, what would I be doing now?

Would I be back in Minnesota?’ Riddle wonders. ‘If you don’t have that autonomy and you don’t make your own money and you want to leave [a relationship]…I just hope any WAG or woman can make that choice.’
