Tom Brady is finally set to call a New England Patriots game later this year when his former team takes on the Green Bay Packers live on Fox.
The legendary quarterback is gearing up for the third year of his decade-long, $375million contract with Fox, having ventured into broadcasting 18 months after calling time on his storied career.
One of the only things missing from Brady’s first two seasons in the commentary booth was a Patriots reunion, but that will change in the 2026 campaign.
Fox will be broadcasting New England’s Week 9 showdown with Green Bay at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, meaning their most iconic player will be analyzing them in the commentary booth.
Brady has come under fire in the early stages of his TV career, with fans initially critical of the seven-time Super Bowl winner’s lack of cutting edge in the booth.
His decision to acquire a minority stake in the Las Vegas Raiders also sparked fury back in October 2024, leading to accusations of a conflict of interest.

When he does return in Week 9, Brady may find that his popularity with Patriots fans has been dented after he bizarrely claimed he wouldn’t be supporting his old team in the Super Bowl back in February.
Despite his legendary 20-year stint in New England, and being regarded the team’s greatest ever player, the New England great said he would not be cheering them on against the Seattle Seahawks due to his role as a part-owner of the Raiders.
‘I don’t have a dog in the fight in this one. May the best team win,’ he told Jim Gray on the Let’s Go! podcast ahead of Sunday’s game.
‘In terms of the Patriots, this is a new chapter in New England, and I’m glad everyone’s embraced the Mike Vrabel regime, all the amazing players that have worked so hard to get their club to this position.
‘We did it for 20 years. There was a little bit of a hiatus in there, but the Patriots are back and it’s a very exciting time for everyone in New England.’
Brady added: ‘You have different chapters and moments that you go through where you’re affiliated with a certain team at Michigan and then I was with the Patriots for 20 years, I was with Tampa for three amazing years. I’ve been in broadcasting, now I’m an owner of the Raiders,’ he added.
‘Those memories that I have are forever ingrained in me. Now in a different phase in my life I root for people and people I really care about.’
Asante Samuel, who won two Super Bowls in New England, was one of several Patriots legends who took a public swipe at Brady over his comments.

He wrote on X: ‘Tom Brady you have 23 hours to respond or it’s up. I’m going ape s*** about who you are. Tom Brady new name “Flaw A** Brady”.
‘Brady you can’t be the only one winning Super Bowls. Let me find out you hating on Drake Maye and Vrabel. “I don’t have a dog in this fight”.
‘Tom Brady I am highly I mean highly disappointed in you not rooting for your ex teammate, Mike Vrabel who is about to do something special. I’m going to fye your a** up one of these mornings.’
Patriots great Vince Wilfork also called out Brady, saying: ‘If you’re a Patriot for life, you know what it is. Don’t give me that political bullc***.’
Rob Gronkowski, who formed a deadly partnership with Brady in both New England and Tampa, told Kay Adams: ‘Did he say that he’s not rooting for the Patriots?
‘Why? I don’t know. I’m not Tom. I haven’t talked to him yet since the Patriots have been to the Super Bowl.
‘Because he probably wants to be the quarterback. He’s that competitive. He wants to be the guy in the Super Bowl right now.’

Yet just a few days later, Brady backtracked on his ‘dog in the fight’ remark by throwing his support behind billionaire Patriots owner Robert Kraft, 84, on Instagram.
After attending a pre-Super Bowl event with his old employer, he shared a photo of them together on his story and wrote: ‘You know I got your back RKK – Get that 7th ring so we can match’.
He also tagged the Patriots in the post to all but confirm he had second thoughts about sitting on the fence.
Brady won six Super Bowls during his iconic 20-year run as the Patriots quarterback, forming the centerpiece of the dynasty built by Bill Belichick.
His final Lombardi Trophy in New England came in 2019 before he was allowed to leave and won another with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
