FootballTransfers runs through the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Cole Palmer and Marc Cucurella.
Cole Palmer green light
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has given the green light to his former club to pursue an ambitious summer move for Chelsea superstar Cole Palmer.
The England forward, who was omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad, has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford transfer in recent months, and Neville believes a deal would work out for Man Utd.
“There’s talk of Cole Palmer and that looks like a signing that could be gold for Manchester United if he came to Old Trafford,” Neville told former team-mate Rio Ferdinand.
“I don’t think it would happen though, I think Chelsea will hang onto him. But there’s very few signings like that available, it’s only every few years that these type of players become available.”
Fabrizio Romano provides Marc Cucurella update
Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has also been tipped to leave the club this summer, and it’s understood that he is eager to explore his options amid interest from La Liga.
This has been confirmed by football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who told his YouTube channel: “At the moment it is still early and patience is required. However, if a suitable proposal arrives for both the club and the player, the possibility of Cucurella leaving Chelsea this summer remains open.
“Chelsea are not under pressure to sell and remain fully in control of the situation. A strong offer would be required to open the door to a transfer.
“There is significant interest in Cucurella from Spain and the feeling is that a move back to his home country would be the most likely outcome if he decides to leave Chelsea.
“This could include developments involving FC Barcelona, although nothing is advanced at this stage. The presence of Alejandro Balde means there is currently no active move. Meanwhile, Atletico de Madrid have always admired Cucurella. Key figures within the club have long been fans of the player and he remains on their radar. Once again, any potential move would depend on the right proposal arriving for both Chelsea and the player.”
Frank Lampard wants Axel Disasi
Coventry City boss Frank Lampard is keen to raid his former club Chelsea for Axel Disasi this summer, according to Football Insider.
The Frenchman was placed in Chelsea’s ‘Bomb Squad’ last summer and after spending the first half of the season on the sidelines, he secured a loan move to West Ham United in January.
Disasi was unable to prevent Nuno Espirito Santo’s side from suffering relegation back down to the Championship, but he was one of their standout performers following his arrival and Lampard is now reportedly eager to sign him.
Coventry are preparing for their first Premier League season since 2001 and Lampard has been tipped to use his connections at Chelsea to finalise an ambitious deal for Disasi.
Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid?
Enzo Fernandez is officially on Real Madrid’s radar for this summer and it’s understood they hold genuine interest in the Chelsea midfielder amid his uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that he is wanted by Los Blancos, although Chelsea have no intention of allowing him to leave unless they receive a substantial fee, while the Blues plan to make transfer negotiations difficult for any interested clubs.
Fernandez is currently on international duty with Argentina ahead of the World Cup and it’s unlikely that his future will be decided until after the tournament.
Barcelona willing to sell Alejandro Balde
Barcelona are interested in signing Marc Cucurella this summer, as mentioned above, and Spanish publication Fichajes claim that Alejandro Balde could be sacrificed in order to sign the Chelsea left-back.
Balde has been tipped to depart Camp Nou for several months and the Blaugrana are now open to a sale in order to make room for Cucurella.
The likes of Aston Villa, Manchester City and Man Utd have all reportedly been monitoring his progress in recent months, and a deal could be on the cards if Chelsea are willing to offload Cucurella.
