Arsenal are working diligently behind closed doors as a hectic summer of transfer activity begins to take shape.
While the window doesn’t officially open until June 15, that hasn’t prevented manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta from already exploring potential deals.
Initial reports suggest the Gunners could emerge as one of the busiest English sides in the forthcoming months, potentially matching the club-record £250million outlay on new players from last summer. This means they’re refusing to become complacent despite claiming their first Premier League title in 22 years.

Sky Sports, HBO Max, Netflix and Disney+ with Ultimate TV package
Sky has upgraded its Ultimate TV and Sky Sports bundle to now include HBO Max, Netflix, Disney+, discovery+ and Hayu, as well as 135 channels and full Sky coverage of the Premier League and EFL.
Sky broadcasts more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more with at least 215 live from the top flight alongside Formula 1, darts and golf.
Sandro Tonali calls made
Arsenal have reportedly made calls in recent days in an attempt to secure Sandro Tonali ‘s services. The 26-year-old Newcastle midfielder became a transfer target towards the end of the January window, when Arsenal were told of his interest in a move.
A deal did not materialise and no concrete offer was submitted, but speculation has remained in recent months that the Gunners are still interested in acquiring Tonali. Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Arsenal recently made contact to assess his availability.
Should Arsenal secure Tonali, he would bolster an already impressive midfield axis that includes Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Christian Norgaard. Yet, Arteta is understood to view Tonali as essential squad depth, with the Gunners expected to play around 60 games again next season.
Newcastle’s absence from European competition means Tonali might seek a departure from Tyneside three years after arriving at St James’ Park. That said, Manchester United are also reportedly pursuing the midfield workhorse.
Kenan Yildiz approach rejected
Arteta and Berta have been forced to shelve their plans to sign Juventus winger Kenan Yildiz. It’s clear that Arsenal are making a left-sided winger their priority in the coming months.
Yildiz, valued at around £86m, has regularly been discussed as one potential arrival, given how brilliantly he has performed in Italy in recent seasons. The Athletic reports that the Gunners even enquired about the Turkey international, only for the Serie A giants to inform them in “no uncertain terms” that Yildiz is not for sale this summer.
Arsenal are therefore now exploring alternative targets. Other left wingers recently linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium include Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and PSG’s Bradley Barcola.
