After taking his first major championship, Wyndham Clark’s unfortunate choice of breakfast led to him vomiting so much that he needed to go to the hospital.
Clark, who won the 2023 US Open at the Los Angeles Country Club, recalled the incident in Monday’s episode of ‘Dan on Golf.’
In the interview, Clark revealed that he needed to be hospitalized a day after he outlasted Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler to clinch the achievement.
Clark and roughly 40-50 family and friends celebrated the win with many, many adult beverages into the night.Â
But the following morning, Clark woke up to head to New York for a press tour.
‘I order, a dumb order, of lox and bagels in the morning,’ Clark said on the show.

Eventually, Clark – who won this year’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson – was released from the hospital
‘I eat the lox and bagels. We get in the car, and I have to pull over, and I am throwing up so much.
‘And then I tear the lining in my stomach. And I actually had to go to the hospital.’
The golfer says he ended up in the locker room for two or three hours to deal with his hampered stomach.
Eventually, he was able to get released and then made his way to New York.
‘I was a little embarrassed, but you know what, it’s a true story,’ the golfer added.
Clark has hit a good patch of performances after the PGA Championship – winning the CJ Cup Byron Nelson before finishing in solo third at last weekend’s Memorial Tournament.
He will tee off at this weekend’s RBC Canadian Open before going to Long Island for the US Open at Shinnecock Hills.Â
