Amid fears of assassination attempts, Vladimir Putin ordered his two elder daughters to live with him in his highly guarded forest palace complex.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has reportedly ordered his two eldest daughters and grandchildren to relocate to his highly secure Valdai forest palace complex.
According to an investigation by We Can Explain, his multimillionaire eldest daughter, Maria Vorontsova, 41, moved into the complex with her two children. She was joined by her younger sister, Katerina Tikhonova, 39, a former acrobatic dancer, and her son.
The heavily guarded estate, located roughly 230 miles northwest of Moscow, already houses Putin’s partner, Alina Kabaeva, 43, and their two young sons, Ivan, 11, and Vladimir, 6.
Security at the peninsula estate, situated between two lakes and surrounded by dense forest, has been heavily fortified as Ukrainian drone strikes push deeper into Russian territory.
The complex is now protected by 27 air-defence towers arranged in dual defensive rings, a significant increase from the seven towers stationed there two years ago. The estate also reportedly features a subterranean bunker.
In addition to physical security upgrades, the Financial Times reports that Russian officials recently audited and temporarily disconnected the Kremlin’s surveillance camera network over fears of cyberespionage.
The security review follows reports that US and Israeli intelligence leveraged hacked security feeds to track and eliminate Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The Russian system was only reconnected to the internet after being thoroughly sealed and vetted by tech experts.
Notably absent from the family gathering is Putin’s rumored third daughter, Luiza Rozova, 23, who primarily resides in Paris.
She is the daughter of Svetlana Krivinogikh, 51, a former cleaner who later became a wealthy banking executive.
Meanwhile, Putin’s eldest daughters continue to hold prominent roles in Russia.
Vorontsova is an endocrinologist involved in longevity research, while Tikhonova oversees major state initiatives in science and technology. Both are the children of Russia’s former first lady, Lyudmila Putina, whom Putin divorced in 2014.
