Head coach of Nigeria’s Nigeria national under-20 football team, Abdul Maikaba, has revealed that the Flying Eagles are gradually building momentum as preparations continue for upcoming competitions.
Speaking after the team’s 4-0 friendly victory over Kano Stars Football Academy in Abuja, Maikaba expressed satisfaction with the performance and progress shown by the squad.
“The team is slowly getting into rhythm,” Maikaba said.
According to the Flying Eagles coach, more improvement should be expected as the players continue spending time together in camp.
“We will become better as the players continue understanding themselves,” he implied.
Maikaba admitted he was pleased with the team’s display during the friendly encounter despite still being early in the preparation process.
“I’m happy with the performance and attitude of the players,” he noted.
The coach also explained that the technical crew deliberately started preparations with lower-level opposition before progressing to stronger tests.
“We are gradually building momentum step by step,” he added.
Maikaba assured Nigerians that the team will eventually face more professional and competitive opponents as preparations advance.
“Matches against professional sides will be arranged soon,” he stressed.
The Flying Eagles continue rebuilding ahead of future youth competitions as the coaching crew evaluates players and tactical options.
