Anthony Gordon has admitted that he has spoken to Marcus Rashford following his €80 million move from Newcastle United to Barcelona this summer.
Gordon, 25, was wanted by Arsenal and Bayern Munich ahead of the 2026 summer transfer window, but Barcelona swooped and quickly finalised a deal before the England star jetted off to North America for the upcoming World Cup.
The Everton academy graduate is expected to compete with Brazil superstar Raphinha for a place in the starting XI at Camp Nou next year and he will become the third English player to play for the Blaugrana in the modern era, following Gary Lineker and Rashford, who spent the 2025-26 season on loan at the club.
Rashford registered 25 goal contributions in all competitions for Barcelona last term, but the club are yet to decide whether or not to trigger the €30m option-to-buy clause included in the loan deal.
As a result, his future remains uncertain heading into the World Cup, however Gordon has revealed that talks have taken place between the pair.

Fans have speculated there could be a rift between Gordon and Rashford while on international duty at the World Cup, with the pair competing for a starting berth at the tournament and the former essentially taking the latter’s place at Barcelona.
However, Gordon has revealed that Rashford was keen to share advice with him following confirmation of the transfer.
Speaking to reporters after England’s narrow 1-0 win over New Zealand on Saturday evening, Gordon admitted to eSPORTY: “He was just telling me how good the lads are there, the team spirit that they have, which I heard already from the people in Barca.
“So I’m really looking forward to joining up with them. He was also telling me about the city, places to live.
“He’s a lovely guy, very caring. So he was just giving me a bit of information.”
When asked about the transfer to Barcelona itself, Gordon continued: “It’s been a bit of a whirlwind of two weeks, but the best two weeks I’ve ever had for me and my family.
“It’s been really good because I’ve told them from a very young age, I said in my interview, that I would get to this point. But they were saying to me, congrats and stuff and this and that.
“I’m not satisfied at all to just play for Barcelona. I want to win everything. This is where my career begins in my mind. So I’m at the stage I always said I was going to be. Now I need to get to the next level again.”
