Manchester United have received a glowing reference for reported midfield target Alex Scott, with Bournemouth star Tyler Adams praising his team-mate for taking a “huge step” in his progression last season.
Widespread reports have indicated United have made strengthening their midfield a priority this summer, with BBC Sport claiming Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba and Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni are among their list of targets.
Another player who continues to be linked with the Red Devils is Bournemouth ace Scott, with The Athletic reporting that Michael Carrick’s side have made enquiries into the cost of a potential deal.
Scott is currently regarded as one of the best ball-carrying midfielders in the Premier League following a stunning 2025-26 campaign which saw him play a key role in Bournemouth qualifying for next season’s Europa League by finishing sixth in the table.
And now Scott – who is currently helping England prepare for the World Cup in North America – has been lauded for his recent performances by United States international Adams, who acted as the 22-year-old’s midfield partner last season.
In an interview with eSPORTY’s Ben Jacobs, Adams said: “Super, super excited [to see Scott training with the England senior team]. He had a great season, I think he took a huge step forward this season.

“We could all see the talent that he had and what he is capable of. You know, he’s been my partner in the midfield for the entire season for the most part and we balance really well next to each other.
“Like I told him going into that England camp, like, anything can happen and you have to be ready for your opportunity if it comes.”
Scott could make England senior debut against Costa Rica
While Scott was not included in England’s 26-man squad for the World Cup this summer, he will be hoping to make his senior debut when Thomas Tuchel’s side face Costa Rica in their final pre-tournament friendly next Wednesday.
The Three Lions geared up for FIFA’s flagship competition – which gets under way next Thursday when co-hosts Mexico lock horns with South Africa – by beating New Zealand 1-0 on Saturday, with captain Harry Kane scoring the only goal in Tampa, Florida.
England will face Croatia in their opening World Cup fixture on Wednesday, 17 June before they take on Ghana on Tuesday, 23 June and then Panama four days later.
Meanwhile United are on the verge of making Ederson their first signing of the summer after agreeing a €40.5million (£35m) deal with Serie A side Atalanta, according to BBC Sport.
