Sky Bet launch Andoni Iraola Specials after Liverpool appointment

The football world was shaken last weekend after Liverpool sacked manager Arne Slot following just two seasons in charge. 

Slot arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2024 as the man tasked with replacing club legend Jurgen Klopp, inheriting enormous expectations and equally large shoes to fill.

He made an instant impact, guiding Liverpool to the Premier League title in his debut season with a dominant ten-point margin. 

That success, combined with marquee summer signings such as Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak, meant Liverpool unsurprisingly began the 2025–26 campaign as strong favourites with Sky Bet.

However, their title defence fell well short of expectations. The Merseyside club struggled for consistency throughout the season and ultimately finished fifth, a full 25 points behind champions Arsenal. 

Given Liverpool’s recent dominance – winning two league titles and finishing runners-up multiple times since 2019–20 – such a drop-off placed significant pressure on Slot, who has now paid the price for an underwhelming campaign.

That pressure will now pass to new manager Andoni Iraola, who has been appointed as Slot’s successor at Anfield. 

Iraola earned widespread praise during his spell at Bournemouth, most notably steering the club to a sixth-place Premier League finish and an unprecedented European qualification.

With Iraola now taking charge of one of Europe’s biggest clubs, attention quickly turns to what he can achieve in his first season.
