Nigeria Cricket Federation Celebrates as Nigeria Wins Associates Member Women’s Team Performance of the Year 

The Nigeria Cricket Federation has celebrated a major international milestone after the country emerged as the Africa Regional Winner for the International Cricket Council Associate Member Women’s Team Performance of the Year.

Nigeria was shortlisted alongside Brazil, the United Arab Emirates, Japan and Scotland in the global nominees’ list released by the ICC, highlighting the impressive progress of the women’s national cricket team over the past year.

In a statement, the federation described the recognition as a testament to the hard work, resilience and commitment of the players, coaches and administrators who have continued to elevate the profile of cricket in Nigeria.

“Nigeria Cricket continues to make waves on the global stage,” the federation stated.

“We are proud to be named the Africa Regional Winner for the ICC Associate Member Women’s Team Performance of the Year, recognizing the outstanding achievements of our women’s national team throughout the year.”

The federation also earned additional global recognition through the ICC Criiio Cricket Festivals with Rexona initiative, a programme aimed at promoting grassroots participation and expanding cricket experiences across communities nationwide.

According to the Nigeria Cricket Federation, the achievement reflects its growing commitment to developing the sport and creating more opportunities for young players across the country.

The recognition marks another significant step in the rise of Nigerian cricket on the international scene, particularly within the women’s game, where the country has continued to record notable progress in recent years.
