Nigeria’s sprint sensation and women’s 100m hurdles world record holder, Tobi Amusan, delivered another impressive performance by setting a new meet record at the 2026 New Taipei Athletics Open in Chinese Taipei.

Competing at the Banqiao Stadium in New Taipei City, Amusan stormed to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles final with a remarkable time of 12.72 seconds, finishing comfortably ahead of the rest of the field.
Chinese Taipei athlete Bo Ya Zhang finished second in 13.17 seconds as Amusan once again underlined her dominance on the international stage.
Although her winning time in Taipei was 0.44 seconds slower than the 12.28s she clocked at the Xiamen Diamond League in China earlier this year, the Nigerian star has continued to show consistency and sharp form ahead of the major athletics championships later in the season.
The 29-year-old recently claimed her first Diamond League victory of the 2026 campaign in Morocco and has now secured top-three finishes in her last several races.
With preparations intensifying ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Games, Amusan has remained active on the global athletics circuit to maintain peak fitness and competitive rhythm.
The Nigerian hurdler, who won silver in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Championships in Tokyo, previously admitted that carrying the status of world record holder comes with enormous expectations.
Despite the pressure, Amusan has consistently credited her support system and team for helping her stay focused and grounded as she continues her pursuit of more global success.
