Roberto De Zerbi will be hard at work in his mission to transform Tottenham in the transfer market and with their first two signings in the bag, attention will be turning elsewhere
Tottenham have made a blistering start to the summer transfer window as they turn their back on relegation battles. The north London side secured their Premier League status in their 1-0 win over Everton as Roberto De Zerbi’s focus quickly turned to next season.
Spurs are expected to clinch the free signings of Bournemouth star Marcos Senesi and Liverpool legend Andy Robertson. Both defenders are set to leave their respective sides upon the end of their contracts next month.
The impending double signing comes after De Zerbi’s post-Everton declaration that significant “change” will be needed in the off season to restore Spurs back to their former glory. The Italian boss said: “From tonight, we have to start to organise and to build a new team. I think we have now to change too many players.
“We have 10, 11, 12 players good enough to stay. Good enough. Like players. Especially like people. And then we have to complete the squad with the first level of players. First level of players, because we suffered too much.
“I suffered a lot, but I think the fans, the club, the board, the players, they suffered too much. We are Tottenham, and we can’t suffer like this until the last second of the last game to stay up.”

Among the various issues that plunged Spurs into a realistic drop to the Championship was their faltering forward line. A combined 18 league goals scored by Richarlison, Mathys Tel, Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani is not nearly enough of what was expected by the talented quartet.
Dejan Kulusevski’s year-long absence and Mohammed Kudus missing the last five months of the season due to injury left Thomas Frank, Igor Tudor and De Zerbi with limited options on the wing.
The Citizens have placed a £60million price tag on the Brazilian forward – double what they paid Girona when acquiring him in 2024 – according to the Daily Mail. The 22-year-old was the subject of several bids made by Spurs last summer but was kept at the Etihad Stadium with Pep Guardiola unwilling to let him go after being unable to find a replacement.
Savinho scored just one league goal in 24 games this season but has showcased his superb speed and ability to defeat defenders on numerous occasions. Able to flourish on both wings, the signing of the forward would give De Zerbi greater flexibility across the attacking options.
Given he was willing to make the move to north London last year, Savinho could – and should – make the long-awaited move to reignite his career after missing out on Brazil’s squad for the World Cup.
