Super Bowl contender emerges as surprise frontrunner to land bombshell trade for Browns star Myles Garrett

A Super Bowl contender has emerged as a surprise candidate to secure a stunning trade for Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett during the offseason.

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year recently changed some key details in his contract with the Browns, leading to rumors that he could be on his way out.

ESPN’s Tony Rizzo has claimed that the Los Angeles Rams, who will be pushing for Super Bowl glory next season, have an interest in the Browns defensive end. 

Speaking on The Tony Rizzo Show on Monday morning, he explained:  ‘You know what I’m hearing? Who’s a team that’s all in? Who’s the team that’s got a quarterback on a two-year – but really a one-year deal – and who’s won a Super Bowl before?

‘It’s the Rams. Does it mean Myles Garrett’s going to get traded? Probably not.

However, when asked what odds he would put on a trade occurring, he said: ’70-30, no. But the thirty is real.’

Rizzo then delved into the details of a potential trade and revealed what Cleveland should demand, if they were to part ways with the reigning DPOY.

‘I’d start with three number ones and work our way from there,’ he explained.

Elsewhere on Monday, Easton Butler of Packer Report claimed that the Rams have contacted the Browns regarding a potential trade for Garrett. 

Though it remains unclear as to whether Cleveland would be willing to part ways with Garrett, Butler claimed that they are, at the very least, listening to offers. 

The Browns reworked Garrett’s contract earlier this season. which previously demanded his option bonuses in 2026, 2027 and 2028 be exercised by the 15th day of the league year, which was March 25 this year.

But, in the new wording, that date has been pushed back to just seven days before the regular season starts each year. ESPN reports the payment of those option bonuses has been tweaked to benefit Garrett.

Garrett has also had $8m of his base salary in 2029 and 2030 transferred into roster bonuses early in each league year. The tweaks mean Cleveland has more ability to create salary cap space but also benefits Garrett with better payment terms.

However, NFL fans believe the move makes Garrett a much more attractive trade proposition to possible suitors because it decreases the future dead cap hits.

One posted: ‘Myles Garrett’s reworked deal seems to have only one purpose, and that is setting up a post-June 1 trade. It could actually work for the Bills.’

Another added: ‘Looking like the @Browns are lining up avenues to trade Myles Garrett. Is it a draft day trade or after the 2026 season?’

Garrett was the unanimous choice for the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year award in 2025 after setting a season record for sacks with 23. He also won the award in 2023, when he dominated the NFL with 33 tackles for loss.
