Sokoto United produced one of the biggest upsets of the 2026 President Federation Cup after eliminating defending champions Kwara United with a hard-fought 1-0 victory in the Round of 32.

The giant-killing result sent the title holders crashing out of the competition, while several top sides, including Rivers United and Enyimba FC, secured their places in the Round of 16.
Rivers United edged out reigning NPFL champions Rangers International 3-2 in one of the most entertaining fixtures of the round, while Enyimba defeated Gombe United 1-0 to keep their cup ambitions alive.
Elsewhere, Bendel Insurance overcame Crown FC 3-1, Wikki Tourists beat Bayelsa United 3-1, and Plateau United secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Kogi United.
Penalty shootouts also played a decisive role, with Adamawa United, El-Kanemi Warriors, Kada Warriors, FC Basira, and Flight FC all advancing after dramatic spot-kick victories.
With the Round of 16 lineup now taking shape, the competition remains wide open following the early exit of defending champions Kwara United, while traditional powerhouses Rivers United and Enyimba continue their quest for silverware.
