Smartplay Initiative is receiving more accolades in Plateau State, following the non-profit organisation’s recent developmental programmes in cricket with various schools, whose students were taken through the game’s basics, rules and regulations.

Sports247 reports that the latest stop for the project was in Mangu local government area, where the programme was based at Government Secondary School, with five other institutions also sending their students for the training sessions.
All attention was on the central field, where the facilitators and instructors, Coaches Tisgen Lucas and Samson Yarima, as well as association chairman, Mr Stephen Dayok and field officer, Aliyu Magaji tutored the kids in cricket skills.
Magaji disclosed afterwards, “Some talented future champs were spotted and selected during the programme and a starter pack was presented to the school principal. A follow-up will be done in due course.
“The principal, Mr Milaham Policap thanked the Plateau State Sports Council and Nigeria Cricket Federation for their immense support and efforts towards better growth and development of the game in the state and Nigeria as a whole.”
Sports247 gathered further that the three organizations have periodically hosted school clinics and coaching programs designed to introduce youth to cricket early, as well as promote teamwork and physical activity.
The clinics typically feature training in basic skills, fundamentals of batting, bowling and fielding under the guidance of state and regional development coaches who are involved at primary and secondary school grounds.
