Arsenal of England’s Nigerian-born youngster, Ethan Nwaneri could be on his way to Como of Italy this summer, as he is earnestly wanted by the Serie A surprise-package coached by his former mentor at Emirates Stadium, Cesc Fabregas.
Sports247 reports that, in what could be a huge move by Fabregas to link forces with a youngster he saw up close during their days together at Arsenal, Nwaneri may be set for a major transfer deal in the coming week.
That would be a welcome change to a quickfire arrangement that took him on loan to Olympique Marseille of France for the second half of the outgoing season, but never materialized to the height he and Arsenal’s gurus hoped it would.
However, despite Nwaneri’s inability to stamp his foot into the scheme of things at Stade Velodrome, the Nigerian-born England youth international has caught the fancy of Como, who are exploring the possibility of signing him this summer.
A report by TEAMtalk adds, “Spearheaded by the tactical brilliance of Cesc Fabregas, Como qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history (and) now want to use it as leverage to sign some of Europe’s top talent.
“Nwaneri’s long-term future at the Emirates Stadium has come under the spotlight after Mikel Arteta loaned him out to Marseille for the second half of the season (but) Como are open to capturing the 19-year-old on loan with an option to buy.
“(They are also) discussing the possibility of a permanent transfer for the teenager, who only played 322 minutes across nine Ligue 1 matches from January. Regardless of his struggles, Arsenal’s youngest debutant should fill Fabregas with excitement.”
