Jamaica head coach Rudolph Speid has warned the Super Eagles to expect a difficult encounter in the 2026 Unity Cup final as the Reggae Boyz target revenge for previous defeats to Nigeria.

The Caribbean side secured their place in the final after defeating India 2-0, with Courtney Clarke and Kaheim Dixon scoring on their debuts to send Jamaica into another showdown against Nigeria.
The final will be a repeat of last year’s dramatic clash, where the Super Eagles defeated Jamaica 5-4 on penalties after a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Speaking after the victory over India, Speid admitted Nigeria remain one of Africa’s strongest teams but insisted the Super Eagles are not unbeatable.
“You guys (Nigeria) have always beaten us every single time before. I am hoping that’s not the case this time,” Speid said during his post-match press conference.
“It’s always exciting to play against Nigeria. They play exciting football and are one of the powerhouses in Africa.”
The Jamaican coach revealed that his technical crew had already started analysing Nigeria’s recent performance ahead of the final showdown.
“We saw them play against Zimbabwe. We will do more analysis on what they will be doing and then decide if we need to change anything tactically,” he added.
Speid, however, maintained confidence in his youthful squad despite acknowledging the quality within the Super Eagles camp.
“They are very, very good but every team is beatable. We have to be aware of what they bring, and we also have some things to bring ourselves,” he said.
“Jamaica is still rebuilding with lots of young players, but nobody is a winner before the game is played.”
Nigeria and Jamaica have developed a fierce rivalry in the Unity Cup over the years, with both nations meeting in nearly every final of the competition.
The Super Eagles will now aim to continue their dominance over the Reggae Boyz, while Jamaica hope to finally end their losing streak against the three-time African champions.
