The chief operating officer of Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL), Ms. Modupe Shabi has enthused that this year’s Super-6 play-off billed to hold in Port Harcourt will provide a memorable atmosphere for the competition.
Sports247 reports that Shabi and officials of the NWFL are banking on the long-standing football culture of Rivers State to boost attendance of spectators at the competition, which will hold from Friday, June 5th to Sunday, June 14th.

It is the first time ever the six-team season-ending NWFL play-offs will take place in The Garden City and Shabi projected that it will be a befitting end to another exciting season in Nigeria’s women’s club football top-flight league.
Shabi noted, “The Rivers State Government has consistently demonstrated strong support for women’s football and successfully hosted our Annual General Assembly last October. We are excited to return there with our flagship competition.
“This is part of our commitment to expanding elite women’s football across Nigeria. The Super Six remains the pinnacle of the NWFL Premiership season, and we are confident the fans in Rivers State will create another memorable atmosphere for it.
“We also urge all qualified clubs to adhere strictly to all competition regulations, schedules and directives that will be communicated to them. Once again, congratulations to the participating teams, and we wish them a successful outing at the Super Six.”
Sports247 gathered further that the 2026 NWFL Super-6 will determine Nigeria’s champions and the country’s representative at West African Football Union (WAFU) zone-B qualifiers for a place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
The upcoming competition will feature top three teams from Group A and Group B of the regular season – title-holders Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons, and debutants Abia Angels.
The 2026 NEFL Super-6 will hold on a round-robin format, with each club playing five matches towards the emergence of a new champion, to follow Rivers Angels (2021), Bayelsa Queens (2022 and 2025), Delta Queens (2023), and Edo Queens (2024).
