Chelsea have no intention of selling Joao Pedro this summer, sources say, with Barcelona holding a keen interest in the Blues forward.
The Brazil international, who was surprisingly left out of Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad this summer, scored 20 goals in all competitions in his debut season at Stamford Bridge. Barca are looking to replace the departing Robert Lewandowski and have been credited with an interest in Joao Pedro, as well as Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.
However, sources close to Chelsea have insisted the former Brighton forward is not for sale at any price this summer. Joao Pedro, likewise, is happy with the Blues and wants to continue helping BlueCo achieve their ambitions.

From Chelsea’s perspective, it’s not about money; the club are insistent they do not need to sell their key players this summer even after missing out on European qualification. Joao Pedro is considered a crucial part of their plans moving forward and for now, he is untouchable in the transfer market.
Elsewhere, the Blues were loosely linked with moves for Newcastle United midfield duo Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali earlier in the week. However, sources say reports linking Chelsea with a move for the midfielders, who cost the Magpies a combined £95million, are wide of the mark.
Xabi Alonso officially starts his job at Stamford Bridge on July 1 with the Spaniard set to have a big say when it comes to the club’s transfer business this summer. Alonso is expected to be involved in Chelsea’s transfer plans, alongside the sporting leadership team, as they look to build a competitive squad in time for the 44-year-old’s debut season as a manager in the Premier League.
