Interim head coach of the Zimbabwe national football team, Kaitano Tembo, has expressed confidence that his side can compete strongly against Nigeria ahead of their Unity Cup encounter.
Speaking before the clash against the Nigeria national football team, Tembo admitted that Nigeria remains one of Africa’s biggest football nations but insisted Zimbabwe is prepared for the challenge.

“Nigeria is one of the powerhouses of African football,” Tembo said.
According to the Zimbabwe coach, the fixture presents an important opportunity for his players to test themselves against elite opposition.
“This is a good chance for us to measure ourselves,” he implied.
Tembo also explained that the Unity Cup matches will help his team continue building momentum after their recent AFCON campaign.
“We want to maintain our progress,” he noted.
The Zimbabwe boss stressed that the tournament will also serve as part of preparations for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers scheduled for September.
“These games are very important for our preparation,” he added.
Zimbabwe earned respect during recent international competitions and now hopes to continue growing under the current technical setup.
