Bayern offer Gordon swap
Bayern Munich are ready to offer goalkeeper Alexander Nubel to Newcastle in a bid to sweeten the deal for Anthony Gordon, BILD reports.
The German giants are unwilling to match the winger’s hefty asking price and believe that sending Nubel to Newcastle could help them in getting a deal over the line. Newcastle are reportedly reluctant to make Aaron Ramsdale’s loan from Southampton permanent.
As a result, they could be tempted to pounce on Nubel’s availability. He is set to return to Bayern after a three-year loan at Stuttgart, but he will be sold following Manuel Neuer’s contract extension.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are still waiting in the wings for Gordon, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed. “Anthony Gordon has always been appreciated by people at Arsenal,” he said. “So there will be movement around Gordon. There could be more clubs entering the race.”
Vieira talks opened
Hamburger SV are now in formal talks with Arsenal over a permanent deal for Fabio Vieira, as per Sky Germany.
The Portugal international is coming off an impressive season on loan with the Bundesliga side, but HSV are not in the financial position to exercise their €20 million purchase option. They have been trying to renegotiate the deal for months.
Vieira is open to staying, having just been informed by the club that they want to build their team around him. They are now trying to convince Arsenal to accept a lower fee, which is not easy because other clubs would be prepared to pay more for the midfielder.
Romano on Barcola
Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Arsenal’s interest in PSG superstar Bradley Barcola.
The France international’s future hinges on PSG’s incoming business this summer. If the Parisians sign another forward, such as RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, Barcola would be expected to leave the club. However, this is not yet a given.
Liverpool’s interest in Barcola also complicates the matter for Arsenal. Still, Romano has reiterated that the winger is on the Gunners’ shortlist. “For Barcola, there is also Arsenal. Arsenal appreciate the player, and I expect movement around both players for sure,” Romano explained.
Arsenal hold Tonali talks
Arsenal have started talks with Newcastle over a potential deal for Sandro Tonali, Tuttomercatoweb claims.
The report asserts that the Premier League champions are planning another major midfield signing to ease the burden on Declan Rice, and “initial investigations” have been launched into the feasibility of a deal for Tonali.
Preliminary discussions with Newcastle have been held to gauge the level of investment required to sign the Italy international this summer. The same outlet previously claimed that Man Utd are close to signing Tonali.
