FootballTransfers runs through the latest Manchester United transfer news on Sunday 24 May, including fresh updates on Ederson, Bruno Fernandes and Mateus Fernandes.
Ederson edges closer to Old Trafford after ‘agreeing’ move
Atalanta midfielder Ederson has moved a step closer to joining United after reaching a verbal agreement on a five-year contract, according to eSPORTY’s Ben Jacobs.
Widespread reports have indicated the Red Devils have made strengthening their midfield a priority this summer, with the club also believed to be interested in Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni.
However, according to transfers guru Jacobs, it is Ederson who stands on the verge of a switch to Old Trafford, with Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport claiming the Brazilian is valued at €50million (£43m).
Carrick issues update on history-maker Fernandes’ future
Michael Carrick fully expects history-maker Bruno Fernandes to remain a United player this summer, saying he has “no reason to think otherwise.”
Fernandes broke the record for the most assists in a single Premier League season by taking his tally to 21 in Sunday’s 3-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on the final day of the 2025-26 campaign.
And when speaking to reporters after the game, Carrick predicted Fernandes – who was the subject of interest from the Saudi Pro League last summer – will go from strength to strength with the 20-time league champions next season.
Red Devils learn West Ham’s lofty Fernandes valuation
United have learned they will have to spend €92million (£80m) if they want to sign Mateus Fernandes from relegated West Ham United this summer, according to The Daily Mail.
Fernandes has been one of the few bright sparks in an otherwise disappointing season for the Hammers, with The Times claiming Premier League champions Arsenal are also keen on the 21-year-old.
West Ham still expect to receive a large figure for Fernandes, however, with the Portugal international having scored three goals and recorded four assists in the top flight this season.
United to face stiff competition for Parma star Suzuki
United have been joined by Bayern Munich and Napoli in the race to sign highly-rated Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki this summer, according to Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
Suzuki has earned plenty of admirers for shining in a Parma side who finished 13th in Serie A this season, with 23-year-old boasting an eye-catching 70.2 per cent save ratio.
And such has been Suzuki’s impressive form between the sticks that United are reportedly set to face competition for his signature, with Galatasaray having also been credited with an interest in the Japan international.
