Marcus Rashford is a target for Arsenal ahead of this summer’s transfer window, as Manchester United weigh up selling the on loan Barcelona forward
Arsenal are ‘monitoring’ Marcus Rashford’s situation ahead of a potential move for the Manchester United forward this summer, it has been claimed.
The England international, 28, joined Barcelona on loan last summer and has impressed during his time at the Catalan side, scoring 13 goals and providing 14 assists in 46 appearances.
Barca boast a £26million option-to-buy Rashford at the end of the season but they are keen to renegotiate that clause or even attempt to take him on loan again.
But United would prefer to sell Rashford, who doesn’t appear to have a long-term future at Old Trafford despite rumours that he could return if Michael Carrick is given the full-time head coach role.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal and Bayern Munich are ‘understood to be monitoring the situation’ with Rashford’s future up in the air. Mikel Arteta’s side have been long linked with a move for the ex-Aston Villa loanee, having tried to sign him on a permanent deal in 2022.
Rashford’s record against Arsenal is impressive. Indeed, he has scored six goals and added four assists in 18 head-to-head matches, including when he scored a brace on his Premier League debut a decade ago.
Arsenal are poised to dip into the market for a new left winger this summer with Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard both underwhelming in 2025/26. Paris Saint-Germain’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon are among the others that the Gunners have targeted.
Rafael Leao is another that Arsenal are eyeing up, with AC Milan expected to cash in on the £50million-rated attacker in the summer. There is anticipated to be huge competition for his signature, however.
On the pitch, Arsenal secured qualification for the Champions League final after a 1-0 win on the night and a 2-1 success on aggregate against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.
Bukayo Saka was the match-winner for the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium and Arteta cut a jubilant figure post-match, with the Spaniard praising his players in his press conference.
“It’s an amazing night to live this kind of moment with the players and everyone at the club,” Arteta said. “It’s an incredible feeling. It makes sense with all of the things we do and we go through.
“I see so many happy faces and proud of what we’re doing. It was unbelievable right from the beginning – the supporters waiting for us outside the stadium, the energy and passion that they put in. It was just great to win this.”
Next up for Arsenal is a Premier League game against West Ham as the Gunners look to close in on a first top-flight title in 22 years. They then host Burnley before making the trip to Crystal Palace on the final day of the season.
