Mikel Arteta and his squad will undoubtedly be in good spirits this weekend when they taken on Crystal Palace in the league finale. Hein completes Bundesliga switch
Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein is bringing to an end his eight-year stint at the Emirates Stadium. The Estonian international, 24, has spent this campaign on loan at Werder Bremen and will complete a permanent transfer to the German outfit for a shade under £2.6million.
The goalkeeper, who had previous loan stints at Reading and Valladolid, made two Bundesliga appearances this season including one against Bayern Munich. “We thank Karl for his contribution to the club during his time with us and wish him all the best for his next chapter with Werder Bremen,” Arsenal confirmed in an official statement.
Hein’s solitary first-team appearance for Arsenal came in a 3-1 League Cup loss to Brighton in 2022. Despite this, he has featured on the bench for numerous Premier League and Champions League fixtures, including every game of the run to the quarter-finals in 2023/24.

Club Brugge’s Christos Tzolis was pressed on the possibility of joining Arsenal or Premier League rivals Manchester United or Manchester City this summer. The Greek international’s name has been mentioned in connection with a number of clubs but told DAZN that it would ultimately be the Belgian side’s call to make when it comes to where he starts next season.
“I don’t know. It depends on Club Brugge. It’s not up to me to decide,” the 24-year-old said after his club secured the domestic league title. “We’ll see what the best option is for me. It’s not just about the name. We also have to ask ourselves what the best project is.
“Why not stay at Club Brugge? I have a contract until 2029. I’m a professional. I have to respect my team. The team that pays me. I’m here to celebrate. Then we’ll see about my future. It’s still early. Today, I have to celebrate. I have a vacation.”
Tzolis, who has netted 21 goals across all competitions this season, is no stranger to English football having previously featured in the Premier League with Norwich City. Belgian reports indicate that Club Brugge are seeking a club-record fee of £31m, with Brentford star Igor Thiago among a handful of players who have left for fees in the region of that sum.
