Arsenal’s Champions League final opponents have suffered a setback as they look to build on their recent success
Paris Saint-Germain have been dealt a blow ahead of the Champions League final against Arsenal.
Luis Enrique’s side, who face the Premier League champions next Saturday in Budapest, are near the front of the race to sign highly rated RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande, who is valued at close to £90million. However, they have reportedly fallen behind Liverpool in the battle to sign the 19-year-old.
Diomande enjoyed an outstanding breakthrough campaign with Leipzig following his arrival from Spanish outfit Leganes in July 2025. The winger, capable of operating on either flank, ended the season with 13 goals and nine assists across 36 appearances for the Bundesliga club.

Beyond his club performances, Diomande also represented the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations. His rise has attracted attention from throughout Europe, including from Liverpool and PSG.
However, The Athletic reports that Liverpool are now better-placed to secure Diomande as they seek Mo Salah’s successor. While Leipzig has set a valuation of £87m, they could opt to keep him for another season, having qualified for the Champions League, frustrating Liverpool, PSG and his other suitors.
To land Diomande this summer, PSG would need to offload a player, although they do have alternative, and potentially cheaper, targets in their hunt for a wide forward.
The Ivorian is contracted until June 2030, but has openly admitted to being “motivated” by speculation linking him with a lucrative transfer.
“Imagine people say you go to Chelsea or Real Madrid (as examples of big clubs) to do this job… you’re going to be happy and motivated to do more,” he said this season.

Leipzig chairman and Red Bull figurehead Oliver Mintzlaff is determined to retain his services until at least next summer. He recently said: “If I were sporting director, I wouldn’t sell this young player, who hasn’t even completed a full season with us yet.
“No matter what price is being offered. I believe he’s a player who still has room to develop, because he’s still very young. He certainly has the potential to become even more valuable.”
