Russia has blamed NATO for playing a part in an attack on a college where four people were killed and dozens injured.
Ukrainian drones targeted the Russian occupied area of Lugansk in the eastern part of the country and images released by the region’s Russian-installed governor showed what appeared to be a college in the town of Starobilsk which was on fire and with its windows blown out.
The attack killed four people and injured 40, Russia’s foreign ministry said. And now it has also claimed NATO was involved.
Russian Foreign Ministry suggested NATO specialists offered technical assistance to Kyiv for the strikes.
A summary of its statement shared by the TASS news agency said: “By carrying out the attack in Starobelsk, the Kyiv regime and its backers bear full responsibility for the escalation of hostilities.
“The Russian Federation has reliable information that Western capitals are supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with intelligence and assisting with targeting.
“There will be no leniency for any of those responsible for the attack on the college in Starobelsk. The Kyiv regime, suffering defeat on the battlefield, is turning a new page in the armed conflict.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strike on the student hall of residence in Starobilsk was a targeted attack in the spirit of the German Nazis. The Russian Federation calls on international bodies to give an honest assessment of Kyiv’s crime and to strongly condemn the bloody terrorist attack in Starobilsk.”
