Carlos Alcaraz WITHDRAWS from Wimbledon with two-time SW19 champion still sidelined by injury after skipping the French Open

Two-time Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz has confirmed that he will not enter this year’s Championships due to the persistent wrist injury that has kept him from competing at the French Open. 

The record-breaking Spaniard announced last month that he would be unable to defend his title in Paris at the end of May as it was the ‘most prudent’ decision to ensure his recovery. 

But there will be some concern for fans of the former world No 1 after Alcaraz announced that he is still not able to play competitive tennis. 

‘My recovery is going well and I’m feeling much better, but unfortunately I’m still not ready to play, so I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon,’ Alcaraz shared in a brief statement on social media. 

‘They’re two really special tournaments for me and I’ll miss them loads. We keep working to get back as soon as possible (red heart emoji)’.
