Former New England Patriots cornerback Joejuan Williams retires from NFL at just 28 in emotional statement

Joejuan Williams, a former NFL cornerback who played for the New England Patriots among other teams, has retired from the game at age 28.

Williams had not played in the NFL since the 2023 season, last appearing in a Week 18 game for the Minnesota Vikings.

‘At 5 years old I said ill be in the NFL,’ Williams wrote in an Instagram post announcing his retirement. 

‘You accomplished your dream J. Now it’s time to help others accomplish theirs.

‘Thank You God for blessing me with this ability. And thank you football for changing my life forever. I came from nothing. 

‘This game transformed my life, gave me purpose, discipline, memories, relationships, and experiences I’ll carry forever.’
