India has increased export duties on petrol, diesel and aviation fuel, one day after raising domestic fuel prices for the first time since the US-Israeli war on Iran began on 28 February.
The government set the export duty on petrol at three rupees per litre, while diesel exports will face a levy of 16.5 rupees per litre. Aviation fuel exports will be taxed at 16 rupees per litre.
Officials said the rates are reviewed every two weeks and adjusted according to average international prices for crude oil and refined fuels since the previous assessment.
The government added that existing excise duties on petrol and diesel sold domestically would remain unchanged.
