Macron says France 'never considered' Hormuz deployment, backs Iran coordination

French President Emmanuel Macron has said Paris has “never considered” deploying warships to the Strait of Hormuz, instead supporting a maritime security effort “coordinated with Iran”, according to AFP.

Speaking at a press conference in Nairobi, Macron reaffirmed that position amid rising tensions in the strategic waterway.

His remarks came after an Iranian official warned of a “decisive and immediate” response if France and the United Kingdom send warships to the strait, following announcements from Paris and London about potential deployments.
