Qatar and Egypt discuss US-Iran ceasefire

Qatar’s Foreign Minister and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a phone call to discuss how to support a ceasefire between the US and Iran, according to a statement by the Qatari foreign ministry.

The diplomats discussed “efforts aimed at de-escalation, contributing to enhancing security and stability in the region”, the statement said.

Qatar’s prime minister called for “all parties to respond positively to the ongoing mediation efforts to pave the way for addressing the root causes of the crisis through peaceful means and dialogue, leading to a sustainable agreement that prevents renewed escalation.”
