Daniel Dubois Wants To Motivate His Younger Brother By Defeating Fabio Wardley On Saturday

One of the targets on the mind of Nigerian-born former world heavyweight boxing champion, Daniel Dubois, when he takes on fellow-Brit, Fabio Wardley this weekend, would be to motivate his younger brother with victory.

Sports247 gathered that the fighter with a Nigerian mother and father from Granada is a major source of inspiration for his younger brother, Solomon, who also wants to be a boxer, just like their female sibling, Caroline, also is.

Dubois challenges Wardley for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) title this Saturday night in Manchester, where the Nigerian-born fighter, who previously held the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt hopes to win in style.

Victory for Dubois over Wardley in Saturday’s epic fight should be another source of motivation for Solomon, who would be further encouraged to take boxing seriously in order to follow his older brother’s giant strides.

A report by UK’s SunSport adds, “Daniel Dubois is out to rule the heavyweight division for years to come – before handing over the reins to his younger brother, Solomon (after being) raised to become a boxing prodigy by his dad, Dave.

“(Their dad) known as Stan – who had his eldest training from the age of seven. (Dave has built his children into) a family business, with 25-year-old Caroline – although estranged from her dad – also a world champion.

“The next prospect from the Dubois fighting family is Solomon – who is rising through the amateur ranks under the guidance of his big brother. Daniel beams when asked about young Sol – and has already given him a word of warning.”

It’s left to be seen if the older Dubois will be able to lead by example again this Saturday for Solomon to follow, but he earlier set a good pattern when he won junior amateur titles before turning professional aged 19.

Dubois, who got his advent into the paid ranks without even having a senior contest in the unpaid ranks, has higher hopes for Solomon and said, “I think he’s got all the right people around him. Just stay focused…. and leave girls alone for now.”

He also spoke about his plans for the impending bout with Wardley and declared, “I’m going to take him out, put him to sleep, take that belt. I’m just going to fight and what I do is put damage and bring the pain. That’s all I’m going to do.”

Sports247 reports further that Wardley was not an accomplished amateur boxer like Dubois, but he equally recorded some remarkable victories as a professional, among which were stopping both Joseph Parker andg Justis Huni

On the other hand, Dubois silenced fellow-Nigerian former champ, Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua in a 2024 title defence at Wembley Stadium in London, but he was stopped twice by current king of the roped square, Oleksandr Usyk.
