Reports from Denmark have indicated Arsenal are monitoring FC Porto attacking midfielder Victor Froholdt
Arsenal had scouts in attendance at the Estadio do Dragao last weekend as FC Porto were crowned Primeira Liga champions following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Alverca.
In the past few days, reports from Denmark have indicated the Gunners are among a list of potential big-name suitors for 20-year-old attacking midfielder Victor Froholdt.
The Danish prodigy, who arrived from FC Copenhagen last summer for an initial £17.3million plus £1.75m in bonuses, has caught the eye during an impressive debut campaign in Portugal. He has racked up 50 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals and registering six assists.

While Arsenal are thought to be tracking the player, he is not currently expected to feature among their primary targets this summer.The presence of club recruitment staff in Portugal last Saturday was merely part of routine scouting commitments, not anything more pressing.The Gunners are keen to add a midfielder to Mikel Arteta’s squad at the end of the campaign but they’re already well-stocked at No.10 and would instead lean towards signing a profile that can help provide cover and competition at No.8 and No.6.Additionally, Froholdt’s release clause stands at £73.5million (€85m) meaning Porto are likely to drive a hard bargain as Copenhagen also have a 10 per cent sell-on clause.Speaking after Porto’s title triumph, Froholdt also made it clear he plans to stay with the club next season following Champions League qualification.He said: “I would love to continue here next season and play in the Champions League for FC Porto. I already feel at home and I am very happy here.”
Arsenal would be willing to invest in a low-cost prospect with big potential and Red Star Belgrade’s 17-year-old gem Vasilije Kostov.

Berta wanted to bring Ederson to Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024 but again, his valuation proved problematic.
Again, while Ederson features on Arsenal’s shortlist, he’s not considered a priority target. Manchester United have held more substantial discussions also but again, he is not a top target for the Red Devils, either.
