The novelty fixture between TASFUED Lectors and TASFUED Golden Generation ended in a 0-0 draw, but the scoreline did little to reflect the emotion, passion, and competitive spirit displayed throughout the encounter.

The match served as a tribute to Ridwan, who tragically lost his life in a ghastly motor accident on December 14, 2022, along the Benin/Ore Expressway while heading for football training.

He had graduated five years earlier from the institution’s Business Education department.

The reunion featured many of Ridwan’s former colleagues, widely referred to as the “Golden Generation” of the university’s football community.

Both teams showcased moments of brilliance, disciplined defending, and attacking intensity, creating an entertaining spectacle for spectators and participants alike.

Beyond football, the event highlighted unity, friendship, and the enduring bond shared among past and present members of the TASFUED football family.

The atmosphere reflected not only remembrance but also celebration of the institution’s sporting heritage.

Speaking with Sports247Naija after the match, Kareem Temitope Saheed, coach of the TASFUED football team, described the reunion as both exciting and memorable.

“The event created an atmosphere of unity, sportsmanship, and celebration as old and current players shared the field once again,” he said.

“It showcased experience, talent, and passion for football while strengthening the bond between past and present members of the team.”

Saheed also expressed delight at welcoming former players back to the institution, noting that their presence serves as motivation for the younger generation.

Looking ahead, he revealed that the university plans to focus on talent development, regular training, participation in inter-university competitions, and stronger alumni involvement in future sporting activities.

The reunion ultimately stood as a fitting tribute to Oreanobi Ridwan — celebrating friendship, football, and a legacy that continues to inspire.
