Iran accuses US of violating ceasefire by attacking tanker in Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters said the US military had violated the ceasefire and targeted an Iranian oil tanker and another Iranian vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian state television meanwhile reported that the military launched missiles following what it described as a US attack on an oil tanker, after explosions were heard on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz.

State television also quoted a military official as saying: “Following the US military’s attack on an Iranian tanker, enemy units in the Strait of Hormuz came under Iranian missile fire and were forced to retreat after sustaining damage.”

The broadcaster also reported, citing military sources, that three US destroyers were targeted by Iranian naval missiles and drones near the Strait of Hormuz.

The sources added that the US destroyers attacked by the Iranian navy near the Strait of Hormuz were heading towards the Gulf of Oman.
