Iran’s permanent mission to the UN has called on member states to oppose a draft resolution backed by the US and Gulf allies that pressures Tehran to guarantee safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on X, the mission described the proposal as “flawed” and “politically motivated”.
“The only viable solution in the Strait of Hormuz is clear: a permanent end to the war, the lifting of the maritime blockade, and the restoration of normal passage,” the mission said.
It also accused the US of attempting to “advance its political agenda and legitimise unlawful actions – not to resolve the crisis”.
