Nigerian sprint star Favour Ashe has set his sights on winning gold in the 100m at the upcoming CAA Senior Athletics Championships in Accra, following an impressive return to the national team.
Ashe recently delivered a standout performance at the World Athletics Relays in Gaborone, where he played a key role in helping Nigeria secure qualification for the 2027 World Championships in China.

He also contributed to the team’s qualification for the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship scheduled for Budapest in September.
With the continental championships set to begin on May 12 and expected to attract over 1,000 athletes from 50 countries, Ashe heads into the competition with renewed confidence and determination.
“I’m in good shape, and my goal in Accra is to win gold in the 100m and also help the team secure gold in the relays,” he said.
Reflecting on his performance in Botswana, the 100m specialist addressed the criticism he faced in the lead-up to the event.
“Before the championship, it was ‘Ashe this, Ashe that, Ashe is finished,’ but I’ve proven my worth,” he stated. “I give all the glory to God for the results we achieved.”
Despite the doubts from critics and sections of the athletics community, Ashe remained focused, using the criticism as motivation to deliver when it mattered most.
Now, with momentum firmly on his side, he heads to Accra aiming to cap his resurgence with continental gold.
