Lewis-Skelly U-turn?
Arsenal fans have called on the club to keep Myles Lewis-Skelly after impressive back-to-back performances in midfield.
The England starlet has found his opportunities severely limited this season due to the arrival of Piero Hincapie last summer. Mikel Arteta had turned Lewis-Skelly into a left-back only to replace him with the Ecuador international.
Despite his lack of minutes at left-back, it wasn’t until the weekend that Arteta decided to give Lewis-Skelly a chance in his preferred midfield position. He immediately impressed and held down that spot for the Gunners’ Champions League victory over Atleti.
Lewis-Skelly has been linked with a departure from Arsenal, but fans are desperate for him to stay after his strong showings in midfield.
Newcastle warning
Newcastle have made it clear that they will not be dragged into any Alexander Isak-style sagas for Tino Livramento, Anthony Gordon or Sandro Tonali this summer, as per The i Paper.
The Magpies want “quick resolutions” when it comes to the futures of their in-demand players, with Arsenal holding a concrete interest in all three of the above-mentioned stars.
Newcastle will not stand for a repeat of the Isak saga from last summer, which dragged on right until the deadline and hamstrung the club for the majority of the window.
Alvarez to jump ship?
Sport speculates that Julian Alvarez could be ready to leave Atletico Madrid after the club’s Champions League exit at the hands of Arsenal, one of the clubs interested in the Argentine.
The Spanish giants signed the striker as the centrepiece of their project for a fee rising to as high as €95m, with Alvarez keen to win major trophies and be Atleti’s main man. However, despite huge investment, Alvarez has won nothing in his two seasons at the club.
With speculation over his future swirling, it is believed that the loss to Arsenal may be the straw that breaks the camel’s back and convinces Alvarez to push for a move away from Spain’s capital.
Arsenal monitoring Rashford
Arsenal are keeping tabs on Man Utd outcast Marcus Rashford, the Daily Mail claims.
The England international is currently on loan at Barcelona, but the Catalans are unwilling (or unable) to make his move permanent for the €30m fee stipulated in their agreement with Man Utd.
As a result, Rashford could be sent back to England this summer. This has attracted the attention of Arsenal and Bayern Munich, who could view the winger as a market opportunity.
