Head coach of Marktown Flyers, Mohammed Abdulrahman, has admitted that his side’s early exit from the Basketball Africa League has exposed key areas needing improvement.
After failing to qualify for the next round, Abdulrahman acknowledged that the level of competition in the BAL proved a tough test for his squad.

“We’ve learned vital lessons,” he said.
According to the coach, a lack of experience among some players was a major factor in the team’s struggles against more established sides.
“We lacked experience,” he implied.
He also pointed to inadequate preparation leading into the tournament as another key issue that affected performance.
“Our preparation wasn’t top level,” he noted.
Despite the disappointment, Abdulrahman remains optimistic about the future, emphasizing that the experience gained will be valuable for development.
“It’s a learning curve,” he added.
For him, the focus now is on taking those lessons back home and improving both individually and collectively.
“We must work harder,” he stressed.
He highlighted the importance of raising standards in training, tactical execution, and mental readiness to compete at continental level.
“We need to step up,” he said.
The BAL campaign may have ended earlier than expected, but it has provided a clear roadmap for improvement.
For Abdulrahman, the message is clear.
Learn from the experience.
Fix the weaknesses.
And come back stronger.
