Officials of Nigeria National League (NNL) have commenced plans to stage a motor rally around the serene community of Ikenne, Ogun State, in order to boost the turnout out spectators at this year’s Super-4.
Sports247 gathered that NNL top shots were not satisfied with the low number of people that trooped to the arena for Monday’s opening pair of matches, hence the decision to woo them ahead of Wednesday’s games.

This was disclosed by the NNL’s chief operating officer, Danlami Alanana, who said in an exclusive chat with Sports247 that top shots of the league body quickly put heads together after Monday’s games and they resolved that there was a need to improve attendance at the venue.
He conceded that the situation might have been better had Remo Stars FC been involved in the competition or if it had been a national team event, which usually generates more interest across the ancient town.
The soft-spoken COO admitted, “We were kind of disappointed, but it has something to do with the fact that it’s not Remo Stars that were playing or the national team. We believe, though, that the crowd turnout will be gradual since the matches are continuous.
“I am sure that, as the days come, fans will begin to troop in. The crowd was not much on Day One, and we expected more. Although it was not what we thought that eventually happened, we are believing that it will get better.
“Now that we have played the first day, the message will get out there across town, and we believe there will be more fans for the second day. I’m sure the awareness is spreading.
“Conscious effort is also being made for us to go round the town to sensitise the public about the competition. It is being considered that we will have a rally on Tuesday evening and early Wednesday.”
Sports247 reports further that there will be fireworks on the pitch this Tuesday, as the competition’s eventual winner will become apparent if a victor emerges between Sporting Lagos FC and Doma United of Gombe, who enter their clash on Day 2 with three points each.
The other game will see Day 1 losers, Inter Lagos and Ranchers Bees of Kaduna seek redemption, with the loser dropping out of contention for the trophy, while the victorious side will target consolidation in their final game on Day 3.
