Exclusive: Positive Livramento talks
FootballTransfers can reveal that Arsenal have held positive talks with Newcastle right-back Tino Livramento.
The 23-year-old is believed to be keen to join the Gunners this summer, and agreeing personal terms is not expected to be an issue. Newcastle, meanwhile, could prove a tougher nut to crack as they are reluctant to sell.
Arsenal are attracted by Livramento’s versatility as he can also play on the left. With Ben White likely to leave the club this summer, Arsenal need more depth in the full-back department.
Timber deal close
Arsenal are on the verge of agreeing a new long-term contract with Jurrien Timber, as per TEAMtalk.
For months, it has been reported that a new deal for the Netherlands international, and this report now confirms that it is a question of when, not if. Timber is keen to commit his future to the Gunners.
His Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) has risen to €65.3 million since joining the North London club, illustrating that he has been a brilliant signing. The report also corroborates that White is likely to depart after losing his place to Timber.
Fabregas could snub Chelsea
Como boss Cesc Fabregas insists that he is not chomping at the bit to take the vacant Chelsea job.
The Spaniard is believed to be one of the favourites for the Stamford Bridge hotseat, but it has also been claimed that he may not be super keen on the job because his long-term ambition is to return to Arsenal as Mikel Arteta’s successor.
Fabregas now appears to have fuelled this rumour by stating that he is ready to wait “12, 15 years” for his Premier League return, which is “of course” inevitable.
“Mourinho told me one day when I was at Chelsea: ‘I still have 30 years to work.’ So I could be here for 10 years, and you can still go to the Premier League in 12, 15 years,” Fabregas told The Telegraph.
Arsenal have doubts over Havertz’s long-term future
Kai Havertz’s future at Arsenal is far from certain, the BBC reports.
Despite discussions over a potential new contract – which confirms FootballTransfers’ reporting – there are now growing doubts over the Germany international’s long-term future.
This is due to his persistent injury problems, as well as the improved form of summer signing Viktor Gyokeres. Questions are now being raised over whether Havertz has a future at the Emirates beyond this season.
