At least eight people are understood to have been injured following the incident in the centre of Leipzig, according to Bild, which reports that a driver was travelling at high speed on Grimmaische Street.
“A car drove through the city center,” a police spokesperson told the newspaper. “We can confirm that several people were injured.”
Around ten ambulances are reportedly at the scene, and the shops in the pedestrian zone are closed.
