US President Donald Trump says Washington is engaged in ongoing talks with Iran that could pave the way towards ending the war that has destabilised the Middle East.
In a post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump said negotiations were progressing.
“I am fully aware that my Representatives are having very positive discussions with the Country of Iran, and that these discussions could lead to something very positive for all,” he wrote.
The comments follow earlier statements from Iran’s Foreign Ministry, which said Tehran had submitted a 14-point proposal aimed at ending the conflict.
Iranian officials also confirmed that the United States had responded through intermediaries in Pakistan, signalling continued diplomatic exchanges between the two sides.
