The bout, held on May 1 at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel, saw Carter Efe secure a unanimous decision victory after three rounds, with judges scoring the contest 30-27 in his favour.

Despite an energetic start, Portable struggled to cope with Efe’s superior reach and composure, ultimately suffering his first defeat in the celebrity boxing scene.

In the aftermath, Portable rejected the result, alleging irregularities and demanding a lucrative rematch, reportedly calling for a ₦200 million purse amid claims of significant revenue generated from the event.

Amid the growing debate, Nigerian professional boxer Taiwo Agbaje, popularly known as “Eshepo,” has stepped forward with an offer to train the “Zazu” crooner ahead of a potential second fight.

Agbaje, an undefeated fighter and reigning WBA Africa lightweight champion, is widely regarded for his aggressive, high-volume punching style and technical discipline.

His intervention is seen as a possible turning point for Portable, whose performance in the first fight drew criticism for its lack of structure and defensive awareness.

Interestingly, Portable had previously hinted at working with Eshepo before the initial bout, but his in-ring display suggested limited tactical preparation, relying heavily on wild, uncoordinated punches that played into his opponent’s strengths.

While fans and promoters continue to push for a rematch, Carter Efe has remained cautious, stating he may take time to recover and is even considering other opportunities beyond Nigeria. as his boxing profile grows.

With financial stakes rising and public interest surging, a potential rematch, now possibly backed by professional training—could deliver a more competitive and technically refined contest if it materialises.
